12 Lead EKG Module 3 (12 Lead EKG Mod 3) Module 3 presents the normal 12 lead EKG, axis calculation and analysis of bundle branch block. You may review the material at your leisure for review or take the quiz for CEU credit. You may visit the site multiple times before you take the quiz for credit, as the goal is mastery of the material. The link to the quiz is found on the classroom page on the left margin. We hope you enjoy the course. The Normal 12 Lead EKG, Axis and Bundle Branch Block
COURSE DESCRIPTION AND INTENDED AUDIENCE: COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to: 1. Differentiate between a positive and negative QRS. 2. List the 12 leads of the EKG. 3. Identify the triaxial and hexaxial reference systems. 4. Identify leads which give information on the lateral, anterior and inferior surfaces of the left ventricle. 5. Define axis. 6. Describe the normal sequence of depolarization within the ventricles. 7. List the normal directions found for QRS’s within the first 6 leads of the EKG. 8. State surfaces of the left ventricle which are represented by the chest leads. 9. Describe the appearance of the normal V1 and V6. 10. Define ‘transition’ for the V leads. 11. Describe R wave progression. 12. State portions of V1 and V6 which represent septal depolarization. 13. Name the axis quadrants. 14. Name at least 2 situations in which axis determination is useful. 15. State causes of left and right axis deviations. 16. State the directionality of leads I and AVF with each axis diagnosis. 17. Match each of the 6 frontal leads to its perpendicular lead. 18. List the 3 steps in axis determination in which all 6 frontal leads are used. 19. List the components of the interventricular conduction system. 20. Define intrinsicoid deflection. 21. Describe the pathway of electrical activation in left bundle branch block. 22. Draw the QRS in V1 and V6 which is seen in LBBB. 23. Describe the pathway of electrical activation in right bundle branch block. 24. Draw the QRS in V1 and V6 which is seen in RBBB. 25. State the EKG criteria for LAH and LPH. CREDIT: AACN File #12851-05, 2,5 Contact Hours, Category A, and expires March 20, 2007. California Board of Nursing: CEP 12206-602, 2.5 Contact Hours or .25 CEU's. To receive credit you must study the material, complete the quiz and submit the quiz to us. You must have a 70% score to pass the test and receive your credit. You may take the test 3 times. A certificate of completion will be sent to you upon receipt of a satisfactory test score. The objectives for the module should help guide your studies. Quiz questions were developed from these objectives. Choose the Registration button on left column to enroll. |
