Module 5 reviews the materials that are taught in the Electrophysiology Training Program, Basic Course.  You may review the material at your leisure for review or take the quiz for CEU credit. You may visit the site multiple times before you take the quiz for credit, as the goal is mastery of the material.  The link to the quiz is found on the classroom page on the left margin.  We hope you enjoy the course. 

 

Antiarrhythmic Drugs and Drugs for Sedation

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND INTENDED AUDIENCE:

 

The purpose of this ____ hour module is to acquaint the electrophysiology lab staff or electrophysiology nurse with the various types of antiarrhythmic drugs and with drugs used for conscious sedation.

  

COURSE OBJECTIVES:  Upon completion of this module the learner will be able to:

 

  1. Describe the mechanism of action for each category of antiarrhythmic drug.

  2. List at least 2 drugs within each category.

  3. Recall specific cautions with administration of each category of antiarrhythmic drug.

  4. Discuss the Sicilian Gambit approach to antiarrhythmic drug classification.

  5. Define proarrhythmia.

  6. Discuss approach to management of drug induced long-QT syndrome.

  7. List 3 goals of proper sedation during an EP study.

  8. List 2 categories of drugs used for sedation and the effects of each.

To receive credit you must study the material, complete the quiz and submit the quiz to us.  You must have a 70% score to pass the test and receive your credit.  You may take the test 3 times.  A certificate of completion will be sent to you upon completion of a satisfactory test score.
